Here is a script that students will be referencing as a foundation for a play they will be developing for their grade level film project next year.
The Bully Play
Scene 1
Exterior: Students at School
Ronnie Well, this is our new school!
Lola Yeah. We are the new kids.
(Bell rings, the two main kids hear children scared and worried, kids clear out the way for Joe)
Joe Well, well, well! What do we have here? The new kids!
(Two kids who are also bullies stand next to Joe and laugh at the joke.)
Lola I was not here!
(Lola hides behind Ronnie)
Joe Aren’t you a chicken?
(Makes chicken noise like bac bac bac etc. and kids next to Joe laugh again at his joke)
A boy next to Joe Are you too afraid to answer, pigs?
Joe Um, Marty?
Marty Yeah?
Joe It only works with chickens.
Marty Oh. Joe You guys are so afraid! Chickens!
Ronnie Y-yeah, I-I’m a c-chicken…ahh!
(Ronnie hides behind Lola)
(Ronnie and Lola fight a little, trying to choose who should hide behind who)
Ronnie Please don’t hit me…um…what’s your name?
Joe Joe Montana!
(People around Joe laugh)
Ronnie Please don’t hit me Joe Montana!
Joe He actually fell for it!
(People around Joe laugh again, the hardest this time, and then turn into serious bullies. So does Joe, the main bully)
Joe Now, we are going to do it
(Joe is making fist punches)
Lola Hear that?! I have to…go!
Ronnie Wait! Lola! Wait!
Joe Your little sister wasn’t brave enough, so what about you?
Ronnie Me? Me? Me? Well, it’s my first day of school, you see…
(Bell rings)
Joe I’m going to be back for you! Song # 1 – School is Cool
(Everyone)
We are so cool!
(Clap Clap)
We are so cool!
(Clap Clap)
Lola And why are we so cool? (Everyone)
‘Cause we are at school! ‘Cause we are at school!
(A random person comes up)
Person My name is Sam, and I like math!
(Person goes, another person comes)
Person My name is Sally, and I like writing!
(Person goes, Joe comes)
Joe My name is Joe,
(Everyone gets scared and worried and goes “ah!”
Joe And I think school is a waste of time!
(Everyone looks at him madly)
Everyone Nah!
(Everyone)
We are so cool, we are in school!
We are so cool, we are in school!
Yes, we are in school! School! School! School! School!
S – C – H – O – O – L! School!
(Everyone lives, scene ends)
Scene 2
Interior: At Home
Mom So, how was school?
Lola Well, Ronnie is getting b –
(Ronnie hits Lola, Lola shuts up)
Ronnie It’s a very nice school!
Dad That’s good. I’m glad you like it.
Mom Yep, I know it’s hard to start a new school!
Lola Yeah…nice school…
Dog Woof! Woof – a – ty Woof!
Lola Scott, we are not lying!
Mom Actually, I think you guys are hiding something…
Dog Woof! Woof! Woof!
Ronnie Let’s go to sleep…
(fake yawns)
I’m very tired!
Lola Yeah!
(fake yawns)

Interior: In Ronnie’s and Lola’s Room

Ronnie When I’m all alone,

Lola When I’m all alone,

(Both kids stare at dog then continue)
Ronnie But now, with the bully in town, I just don’t know what should I do?
What should I not?
Lola But…
(The scene changes from sad and upsetting to disco and happiness)
(Everyone comes on stage)
Everyone We’ll just let it go! We’ll let it go! Let it go! Let it go… LET IT GO!
Ronnie and Lola So… let’s just let it go…
(Mom and Dad and Doggie Scott come)
Mom Good night!
Dad Good night!
Dog Woof! Woof!
Scene ends when Ronnie and Lola fall sleep

Exterior:: At School
Ronnie Well another day at school.
Lola Yep, another day at school.
(Joe comes with his friends)
Joe So, I see you came back… All of the other students Dun! Dun! Duuuuun!
(Teacher walks in)
Teacher Joe, go to the office. Your teacher wants to see you.
Joe You two got lucky.
(Joe goes with teacher)
Ronnie That was a close one…
Lola Yeah, we gotta be careful…
Ronnie I just hope that he won’t annoy me in class too.
(bell rings)
Lola Well, I need to go to class
(Ronnie goes to his class, scene ends)
Scene 5
Interior: at Ronnie’s classroom
Teacher Please, class, open to page 237. We will start reading in a minute
Ronnie
(talking to himself)
Joe Montana is not here. That’s good.
Tina Mr. Dickson! The new kid is talking about someone named Joe Montana!
(The class giggles)
Mr. Dickson Well, I don’t care. Again,
Tina, for the 4532th time, mind your own business.
Tina But! But –
Mr. Dickson No,
Tina, no ‘buts’
(Joe enters with his friends)
Joe Mr. Dickson said butts!!!
(everyone starts laughing)
Mr. Dickson I said ‘buts’. B – U – T – S. Not the kind you meant, B – U – T – T – S.
Joe, please sit down. (Joe sits down)
Ronnie Mr. Dickson, I don’t have a social studies book.
Mr. Dickson Well that’s odd. I’m sure I gave you one.
Ronnie Maybe it’s in my desk.
(Joe and his friends crack up)
Joe Ha! You don’t have one!
Mr. Dickson Joe, maybe you stole
Ronnie’s book Joe Maybe.
Mr. Dickson Detention, Joe!

(looking at Ronnie)
It was totally worth it, loser.

Scene 6
(Ronnie and Lola are walking home)
Ronnie And then he called me a loser!
Lola I can’t believe that guy!
(Puts up a wrestling pose)
I’ll get that guy! Eat him up! Until he cries for his mommy!
(Ronnie stares at Lola madly) Lola Heh – heh – heh…
Ronnie I don’t want to hurt him, but I just hope he’ll cut it out soon.

Joe I know it’s kind of mean,

Joe Maybe…you know… I shouldn’t bully at all. It’s very mean and powerful…bullying is not nice, and since I got bullied once, I bully other people…so I should just stop.

Exterior: (Everyone at the school is walking and talking)
Student Did you guys know that the new kid, Ronnie, is getting bullied?
Everyone Yeah!
Student Well, we should do something about it! Everyone Why?
Student Because bullying is terrible! Raise your hand if you got bullied before.
(Five to six people raise their hand.)
Student Did you like getting bullied?
Everyone who raised their hand NO!
Student So let’s help Ronnie!
Everyone YEAH!
(A student comes up)
Second student But Joe is strong! He is big! We are just little!
Student No, we are strong! We are big!

Student WE ARE STRONG! WE ARE STRONG! WE ARE STRONG!
Everybody Well… we don’t know….
Student We’ve got Gerald with the muscles!
(A boy comes and shows his muscles)
Student And Joyce with the voice!
(Joyce comes up and yells YA!)
Student We’ve got Seth with the strength!
(Seth comes up and lifts up a fake big rock)
Student And Tina with the smartness!
(Tina comes up and smiles)
Student So…
Everyone WE CAN! WE CAN!
We can help that Ronnie and defeat that Joe!
We can! We can! We can do whatever we want and will just go! Go! Go!
Student We’ve got George that will call out! And Sydney that will shout! Student So…
Everyone We can! We can! We can help that Ronnie and defeat that Joe!
